By taxi to the hotel: Leaving the airport please use the left exit door. There you will find the ticket sale for the official airport taxis. New taxi prices from 05.09.2008: A taxi from the airport to downtown Alajuela and to the Hotel Coconut House costs 7,- US$, a minibus for up to seven persons costs 10,- US$. The taxis are waiting in front of the exit. The ticket with the driving destination has to be handed to the driver. Taxi drivers in Costa Rica do not expect tips.

We recommend not to use any other taxis but the official orange colored airport taxis, which can be used only by the above mentioned ticket sale at the airport exit. Other non-official taxis might take you to overpriced hotel to get a comission. Illegal taxis with private cars are not recommend for safety reasons.
 

We offer new Airport pickup service:

After exiting the plane, and pass the immigration point look for a person at the end of the ramp holding a placard with your last name.

Coconut House will make special arrangements to have a representative from CANATUR (Costa Rican Chamber of Tourism) meet you to provide assistance, escort you to the baggage claim area and thought customs, and help you locate your local guide and driver. This persons cannot, however, provide assistance with your bags, as you are the only person permitted to handle your luggage while you are inside the airport.

Outside the arrivals area, look for our representative from Coconut House who will be holding a placard with your last name on. Our driver will provide assistance with luggage and private transportation to our hotel.
